X3 CMMS System Improves Nation’s Leading Natural Gas Provider’s Uptime by 30 Percent.
July 25, 2012 (Marlton, N.J.) – Today, eMaint Enterprises, a world leader in cloud-based maintenance management systems, announced that its client, XTO Energy, the nation’s largest producers of natural gas, has expanded its usage of eMaint X3 CMMS software to three additional gas plants for Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance.
“The goal with all of our clients is to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability,” said Brian Samelson, CEO and President at eMaint Enterprises. “We are pleased that XTO Energy has met all of its goals set in place during implementation and that they have decided to expand the use of the eMaint X3 software at multiple plants.”
The three new locations are 200 miles apart and contain more than 1,800 assets including electric compressors, pumps, skids, and air dryers. Combined output of the three plants is 100MM standard cubic feet daily.
XTO Energy, which was founded in 1985 and acquired by Exxon Mobil in 2012, first implemented the X3 software at the Cornell Mahoney plant in 2010. Professional services came on site to train the trainers and to jump-start their usage. The plant also purchased the eMaint University package to continue enhancing their skills after implementation.
We chose eMaint because we wanted our system and training to be completely web-based, easy-to-use and configurable,” said Doyle Lawson, Facilities Superintendent at XTO Energy. “Before we implemented the X3 software, we were using a homegrown system that was hard to use and unwieldy. We also chose eMaint because of its affordability and “elastic” pricing model, giving us the option to start at one plant and add as the system became successful.”
XTO Energy’s goals in adopting a new CMMS system were to improve backlog, reduce downtime, and comply with OSHA requirements for PSM. Since launching the eMaint X3 system, uptime has increased from 75% to 97%. The plant has also consistently met all PSM requirements both internally and through OSHA. System reports have made it easy to demonstrate compliance, provide backup details as needed, and manage the backlog so it is constantly below the plant target of 100 hours. The reports also help justify when additional staff needs to be added.
Although one of the plants is not required to adhere to PSM standards due to the smaller size, XTO Energy chose to run all plants at the highest of standards for consistency, quality and safety.
eMaint CMMS system can be tailored to meet the exact specifications of any maintenance, facilities or operations department and saves companies valuable time and money by better organizing, planning and managing maintenance activities. Using eMaint’s systems will result in less equipment downtime, greater return on assets, and improved efficiency, productivity and profitability.
