Case Study: Marshall County Hospital
Background
Marshall County Hospital is an accredited full-service facility in Benton, Kentucky that has been providing acute care, ambulance, cardiopulmonary, emergency, home health, laboratory, rehabilitation and surgical services since 1964.
Challenge
Prior to implementing eMaint X3 CMMS in May of 2009, work requests were submitted manually by 250 employees in 4 buildings to their 5 person maintenance team. Required PM activities were being handled through an outdated, single-user system. They evaluated several systems before selecting eMaint. Ease of use and flexibility in configuration were key deciding factors as the computer skills of their users (including the CEO, medical and administrative staff) varies considerably.
Implementation
In the 6 months since implementing the X3 Maintenance Software, all work requests from any of the 75 supported users have been automated. They are immediately sent to the maintenance supervisor who can easily convert, assign and track them. Screens have been customized for the various user groups to only provide the information they need to see. Patrick Waters, the IT Director, was thrilled with the ease of use and ability to customize each screen. A 2 hour call with support was all that was needed to get them started on the road to success. eMaintuniversity is being utilized to provide training to new users as needed.
Results
The automation of work requests has led to a 100% work order completion rate (not a single request has been lost) and a 25% reduction in turnaround time. The ease of implementation has enabled them to replace their outdated PM system more quickly than originally planned. All critical assets (including biomedical equipment) have been entered in X3. The system is managing all of their Preventive Maintenance activities for critical equipment that requires monthly maintenance. The fact that the system is accessible to all maintenance staff (rather than being stored on one computer) has helped streamline their PM process.
